Who Ekaterina teaches

Three areas of work

А

Bilingual kids

In an English-speaking environment, Russian often becomes a language a child understands better than they speak. In lessons we build speech, vocabulary, reading, writing and literacy, so Russian stays a living, confident way to communicate.

Б

Russian for adults

From scratch or after a long break. For family, for travel or for yourself. A calm pace, real spoken language, and lessons that help you start speaking and using Russian in real life.

В

Russian as a foreign language

For anyone discovering the Russian language and culture. We learn to understand speech, to speak, to read, and step by step to use Russian in real conversation.

How lessons work

Simple, step by step

Meet first

A short chat: Ekaterina talks with your child or with you, sees the level, and tells you honestly what she offers and whether it fits.

A personal plan

Not one course for everyone, but a plan for this student: age, level, goal, and the things they actually find interesting.

Regular lessons

One-on-one lessons in a format and rhythm that suit you, homework that is doable, and clear feedback for parents.

Behind every letter lives a warm word. Lessons are full of them.

How lessons run

Russian in action

We play, read, draw, dance, discuss and talk. That is how Russian becomes a living part of communication, not just a subject in a lesson.

Ekaterina

I have been teaching Russian for more than 12 years, working with children and adults across different languages and cultures.

My path began in Moscow, where I spent several years as a primary school teacher. I then taught Russian as a foreign language to adults in Belgium and worked with bilingual children in Brussels. Today I live in Brisbane, and I understand particularly well what families face when their children grow up between two languages and two cultures.

A pedagogy degree and a master's in educational psychology help me do more than teach a language. They help me understand how each child learns, what keeps them interested, and how to shape lessons so Russian becomes a living part of their life.

  • 12+ years of teaching: Moscow, Brussels and Brisbane.
  • Experience with bilingual children and with adults learning Russian.
  • A pedagogy degree and a master's in educational psychology.
  • A modern approach: structure, real conversation, culture and materials that engage.
  • Russian, English and Dutch.
  • A calm, kind atmosphere where mistakes are nothing to fear.

Common questions

Parents usually ask

My child understands Russian but answers in English. Can that change?

Yes, and it is one of the most common situations with bilingual children. The child understands Russian, but English becomes the language that is easier and more familiar to answer in.

Step by step we build active speech and confidence, so that Russian stays not only a language your child understands, but a language they speak.

From what age can children start?

It depends on the child, which is why everything starts with a meet-and-chat: Ekaterina talks with your child, sees the level and tells you honestly whether it is time to start and where to begin.

Are lessons online or in person?

Lessons run in person and online. In the South Brisbane area Ekaterina can teach at her place or come to the student's home. For those who live further away, online lessons are available.

Do you teach adults?

Yes. Ekaterina works with adults at any level: you can start from scratch, come back to Russian after a break, or keep developing the language. Lessons are built around your goals and around why you need Russian.

What do lessons cost?
